Salt Lake City's Trusted Concrete Specialist

TWO DECADES OF POURS
IN SALT LAKE CITY.

Peak Concrete has been pouring across the Salt Lake Valley since 2006. From plunge-pool deck surrounds in the Avenues to full residential driveways in Sugar House, Holladay, Millcreek, and Cottonwood Heights — we know the soil, the codes, and what survives an SLC winter.

SLC isn't a single jobsite. The bench has expansive clay; the valley floor has variable fill; the foothills drain fast in summer and slow in spring. Our base prep changes for every neighborhood.

Salt Lake City-Specific

WHAT MAKES BUILDING IN SALT LAKE CITY DIFFERENT.

  • 01
    Expansive bench soils
Clay-heavy soils east of 1300 East swell when wet, shrink when dry. Improper base = patio cracks within 5 years. We over-build for it.
  • 02
    Aggressive freeze-thaw
SLC averages 80+ freeze-thaw cycles per winter. Proper joint cuts and fiber/rebar reinforcement matter.
  • 03
    SLC stormwater rules
Impervious surface limits and runoff capture rules apply on many lots. We pull permits and design drainage that complies.
  • 04
    Historic district overlays
Avenues and Capitol Hill require Historic Landmark Commission review on visible exterior work. We know what gets approved.

Salt Lake City Concrete FAQ

SALT LAKE CITY CONCRETE QUESTIONS.

How long does a driveway pour take in SLC?

5-10 working days for a standard residential driveway. Most builds happen April through October — winter pours are possible but base prep takes longer in frozen ground.

Do I need a permit for a driveway?

Public-right-of-way curb cuts and driveway aprons require SLC permits. Behind-the-property-line residential pours often don't. We handle all permits.

What concrete works best for the Avenues' clay soil?

Heavy-rebar reinforced 5" slabs over a deeper compacted base. Standard 4" residential spec sometimes fails on Avenues clay within 8-10 years.

Tear-out vs overlay for an old SLC driveway?

If the slab is heaving or badly cracked, tear-out is the only durable answer. Surface-only damage on a sound base can be resurfaced for 30-40% of full replacement cost.

Can you handle the slope on Cottonwood Heights / east bench?

Yes — most east-bench builds involve at least one retaining wall or stepped slab. We engineer block walls up to 4 feet without permits, taller with structural review.

How early to book for a spring SLC pour?

Spring (April-June) typically books out by late February. For a summer build, get on the schedule by April.
